My Story!

Hi everyone!

My name is Laiken Hoy, and I am the founder of Made By Laiken! I’m so excited to share my story and creative journey with you.

My passion for both travel and art began at a young age, around five years old. Throughout high school, I took a studio art course every year and completed AP Studio Art during my senior year.

When it came time to choose a sustained investigation for my AP portfolio, I initially struggled. I wanted to create something that truly reflected who I am. The inspiration finally came to me while traveling—something that has been a meaningful part of my life thanks to my dad. He has always prioritized showing my sister and me the world, whether through work trips or family vacations. I realized I wanted to dedicate my project to him, to show that I see the world both through his eyes and my own.

My sustained investigation focused on capturing the simplicity of places around the world. Using real photographs I’ve taken during my travels, I reimagined them through minimalist illustrations that highlight the beauty in simplicity.

At my senior art show, many people responded enthusiastically to my work and suggested I create pieces inspired by college campuses and hometowns— places that hold deep meaning for so many. From there, I expanded the concept into wearable art. Made By Laiken allows people to carry the places they love with them, expressed through thoughtfully designed apparel.

I’m truly grateful to be able to combine my love for art and travel, and I can’t wait to share more of it with you all.
